This secretive gym in North Fremantle, run by ex-SAS soldiers, is fast bowler Mitchell Johnson’s secret weapon. The converted warehouse known as The Mill, where the world’s most fearsome bowler is a regular, has members train with sledgehammers. Visitors are not welcome. To join, aspiring members must apply in writing “explaining who you are, your background and why you want to train with us”.

Most are rejected because membership is capped at 100, but those accepted are “monitored and tested regularly” to ensure The Mill “never becomes mediocre”.
