BJJ MAT RULES FOR BEGINNERS

1 – DO WEAR FLIP FLOPS OR SHOES WHEN YOU LEAVE THE MAT. EG. GO TO THE TOILET. AND NEVER WALK ON THE MATS IN ANY FOOTWEAR.

2 – IF YOU HAVE ANY CUTS TAPE THEM UP. MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE NOT OPEN AND WILL NOT BLEED WHILE TRAINING.

3 – DON’T FORGET TO CUT YOUR NAILS. LONG NAILS CAN CAUSE CUTS TO YOUR TRAINING BUDDIES.

4 – WASH YOUR UNIFORM AFTER EVERY USE & WASH AND KEEP YOURSELF AND YOUR TEETH CLEAN TOO. BAD BREATH, ODOURS AND DIRT MAKES FOR AN UNPLEASANT SESSION FOR YOUR TRAINING PARTNERS.

5 – TURN UP TO CLASS ON TIME. BEING LATE IS DISRESPECTFUL.

6 – DON’T TRY AND TEACH SOMEONE A TECHNIQUE. YOUR INSTRUCTOR WILL TELL YOU WHEN YOU ARE QUALIFIED TO DO SO.

7 - REMEMBER TO CONTROL YOUR BREATHING DURING SPARRING SESSIONS. THIS IS ONE OF THE KEYS TO DEVELOPING MAT FITNESS.

8 – BE AWARE OF USING STRENGTH OVER TECHNIQUE.

9 – DON’T TRAIN WHEN YOU'RE SICK OR FEEL THAT YOU ARE GETTING SICK.

10 - TRAIN WITH A MOUTHGUARD WHEN SPARRING.
