OVERVIEW

The Chaos Camp is a 36-hour workshop involving both theory and practical training in using a compass, map reading and day and night navigation.

The camp starts with the navigational theory training phase, then moves onto the practical navigation training phase including night navigation.

Once the theory element is completed, the practical element is self-paced. Students may choose to push themselves throughout the day and night for the entire 24-hours PRACTICAL PAHSE, and cover as much of the 60km course as possible; or they may choose to complete parts of the course at a more leisurely pace. At this stage CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO experienced students WHO REQUEST TO COMPLETE the course on their own.

Students who are new to navigation will be accompanied by one of our experienced instructors to ensure that they maximise the learning outcomes.

Chaos is ideal for:

  • aspiring military and Special Forces Selection candidates,

  • adventure racers and runners, ultra-endurance athletes; and

  • anyone just wanting to learn a new skill set.

Special Forces Selection
candidates

Special Forces Selection candidates will train on the terrain on which some elements of the SASR Selection Course are often conducted. Students will be able to navigate through the 60km predetermined course at their own pace. The challenge will be to complete as reach as many checkpoints as possible in the time allocated.

adventure racers
and runners,
ultra-endurance athletes

Endurance athletes will learn the basic skills of navigation in difficult terrain. We chose to conduct the camp in Lancelin because if you can navigate IN that terrain then we believe you can navigate anywhere. Once you have completed the theory phase, you will then be given coordinates to navigate to COMPLETE on your own. From there it is up to you to reach as many checkpoints as possible in the time allocated.
