ASSESSING YOUR READINESS TO TRAIN.
ASSESSING YOUR ‘READINESS TO TRAIN’ IS A KEY SKILL TO HELP YOU MAXIMISE YOUR TRAINING PROGRAM, AND TO HELP PREVENT OVERTRAINING.
OVERTRAINING CAN RESULT IN EXCESSIVE LEVELS OF FATIGUE, OR WORSE, INJURY WHICH CAN GREATLY HINDER YOUR PROGRESSION TO YOUR TRAINING GOALS.
THE SKILLS TO MAKE THIS ASSESSMENT EFFECTIVELY TAKES PRACTICE TO DEVELOP. TO HELP WITH THIS WE HAVE DEVELOPED A DAILY QUESTIONNAIRE OR JOURNAL WHICH YOU CAN COMPLETE AT THE START OF THE DAY AND IT WILL COVER THE KEY SUBJECTIVE ASSESSMENTS YOU NEED TO CONDUCT IN ORDER TO HELP YOU MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHETHER YOUR BODY HAS RECOVERED ENOUGH AND IS THEREFORE READY TO TRAIN.
TO USE THIS JOURNAL EFFECTIVELY, MAKE AN ENTRY EVERYDAY. OVER THE PERIOD OF A MONTH YOU WILL BE MORE IN TUNE WITH YOUR BODY, AND GET BETTER AT MAKING THESE SELF-ASSESSMENTS.
ADD YOUR SCORES UP AT THE BOTTOM OF EACH COLUMN. THEN AT THE END OF THE MONTH, CALCULATE THE AVERAGE SCORE.
IF YOUR AVERAGE SCORE IS A NEGATIVES SCORE (I.E. < 0), THEN YOU ARE OVERTRAINING.
IF YOUR AVERAGE SCORE IS FROM ZERO TO 2, THEN YOUR PROGRAM IS AT THE RIGHT LEVEL OF VOLUME AND INTENSITY FOR YOUR.
IF YOUR AVERAGE SCORE IS 3 OR MORE, THEN YOU WILL NEED TO INCREASE THE VOLUME AND INTENSITY OF YOUR PROGRAM (I.E. DOWNLOAD THE NEXT LEVEL PROGRAM).
